The province is expected to have one and a half million mobile phone lines by the end of the year.

The figures speak for themselves. The official population of Málaga province is 1,435,409 people. Forecasts say that there will be 1 million 500,000 mobile phone lines in Málaga by the end of the year, a proportion of more than one hundred percent.

The average percentage nationwide is 93.4 percent, which puts Spain in fourth place in the world for the number of mobile phones per capita.

The figures come from the three main mobile phone operators in Spain: Movistar's customers for Málaga lead the pack in Andalucia, with 610,000 clients. Vodaphone is a close second. They say they have over 400,000 clients in Málaga. Amena cannot provide any precise figures: they say it is difficult to say where their customer-base actually lies, as the nature of a mobile phone means that it can be bought in one city, and used in another. However, they estimate that the proportion of the company's market share will be similar to the rest of Spain, giving them 300,000 clients in Málaga.

The majority of complaints, according to the Andaluz Federation of Consumers and Users, are received by Amena.
