It happened on the last day of his summer job at the plant

An 18 year old sportsman died this weekend in a horrific accident which happened on the last day of his summer job at a factory in Cehegín, Murcia.

Named by La Opinión de Murcia as Diego Jiménez Fernández, he died at La Verja fruit juice plant early on Saturday, when his head became trapped in a pallet-wrapping machine. His employment contract was due to end just four hours later.

He was a keen basketball player and played for the Begastri Basketball Club, where he also trained the youth team.
He was due to enter university for the first time at the end of September to study Philosophy.
