The villagers have been unsuccessful in their demands for their priest to be returned to Albuñol. His replacement arrives on Sunday
It appears that the conflict between the Archbishop of Granada and the people of Albuñol could be over, following a meeting between the two parties on Tuesday where the Archbishop, Francisco Javier Martínez said he will allow services to go ahead in the village church once again.

He suspended services more than three weeks ago after a hunger strike and protests by the villagers against the decision to transfer their priest away from the village. Two couples were forced to marry in the church in nearby La Rábita while the services in their local church were suspended.

EFE reports that a new village priest will arrive in Albuñol on Sunday and that there is no possibility of the Archbishop going back on his decision to transfer his predecessor, Gabriel Castillo.

Press releases are expected from both parties on Wednesday.
