The fissure is near the Cara del Moro below the Castillo de Santa Bárbara
Alicante City Hall has installed protective netting below the Santa Barbara Castle after cracks were spotted in the Cara del Moro area of the outcrop on which the fortress stands.
The fissure, which was spotted by a passerby, is reported to be two centimetres wide and six metres high. Access to La Ereta Park is currently closed off as a safety precaution.
A specialised technical architect is to carry out a report on the situation and on what measures should be taken.
