The document covers the year 2006 and says the 'marbella effect' has extended along the coasts of Málaga and Cádiz
El País on Monday reported on real estate corruption on the Costa del Sol and Costa de la Luz. What the paper calls the ‘marbella effect’ now extends along the coasts of Málaga and Cádiz.
The article is based on the 2006 annual report from the Attorney General’s Office which notes that local town halls are not carrying out real estate inspections with the required detail, and that there are few municipalities which have not seen denuncias placed.
In some cases architects and technicians are awarding certificates with the incorrect date to avoid any criminal charges.
The Environment Prosecutor in Cadiz Province, Ángel Núñez, goes as far as to say the situation is out of control, but the 77 investigations opened in the province are nothing when compared to the 243 complaints which were opened in Málaga province in 2006.
The report congratulates the Environment Prosecutor in Cadiz for his work, and also reveals that in Tolox, a municipality in Málaga province with a population of 2,336, the judge has blocked 15 developments totalling 2,000 homes and charged the local Andalucian Party Mayor, Juan Vera, with territorial crimes.
