Two women have died in the town of Alcalá de Guadaira on the outskirts of Sevilla following a heavy hailstorm last night.
It happened after the driver of a coach lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the wall of a house, which then collapsed in Calle De la Mina, and the rubble fell on top of one of the victims. Another eleven people were injured in that incident, one is in a serious condition with a broken pelvis.
There was a second death when another local woman was washed away by the flood in Calle Pérez Galdós in the town.
More than 80 litres per square metre fell in just 20 minutes in the cloudburst, leading to a rapid flash flood. Local firemen were called out 30 times as water reached half a metre deep in some parts of the town. Several homes and garages were flooded along with basements and shops.
