Carlos Checa, has announced he is leaving the sport and will ride in Superbikes for the
Hannspree Honda team where he will replace the British rider,
James Toseland, who goes the other way to ride for Yamaha.
The 35 year old Spaniard has won the World Motorbike Championships twice in his career in Cataluña in 1996 and Madrid in 1998.
His career has continued despite a very serious life-threatening accident in England in July 1998.
