It will be the 'Duck' or 'Pato' AVE high speed train to run between Madrid and Málaga when the service starts in December
RENFE Spanish railways has chosen the Talgo S-102 locomotive to pull the new AVE high speed trains which will be running between Málaga and Madrid at the end of the year.
The trains are popularly known in Spain as ‘el Pato – the Duck’ because of their shape and are made by the Spanish company Talgo with the Canadian group Bombardier.
The ‘Pato’ can reach 330 kms/hour, has 316 seats, and was first seen in Spain on the Zaragoza line in 2005.
The first trains to Madrid from Málaga will run on December 23rd, journey time is cut to two hours and a half, and the ticket price is 70 €, ten more than now for the single ticket.
Meanwhile it has been revealed that the Ministry for Development is to spend nearly four million on improving the RENFE yards ar Los Prados in Málaga. 14 high speed Talgo trains will be built there and only Madrid has seen a larger promise of investment.
