Youngsters aged between 22 and 30 will be able to claim 210 € a month

They can make an application while they are looking for somewhere to live and will then have three months in which to present a rental agreement and show that they are living in the property on a permanent basis. The scheme is open to all those who have an annual income of less than 22,000 €.

The necessary forms will be made available for download from the Ministry for Housing website. The Ministry expects 361,000 youngsters to take advantage of the scheme in the first year, costing a total of some 411 million €.

The cabinet also approved the creation of ten new courts who will work only on cases of eviction with the intention of speeding up judicial cases against bad payers.

Landlords and builders who construct rental accommodation will also be able to claim financial help of as much as 6,000 €.
