It's unusual for immigrants to head for the North African enclave
A new group of irregular immigrants have arrived on the coast of Spain, this time 71 Sub-Saharans have come ashore in the early hours of this morning in
Melilla.
Three of the group are reported to be children, and two of the travellers needed to be treated in the district hospital for hypothermia. The ten metre long zodiac boat was found at 5,45am this morning on a beach close to the enclave incineration plant.
It is thought to have departed from
Afraud in Morocco, some 60 kms from Melilla.
The arrival, which is the largest number of immigrants ever seen on a single boat in Melilla, comes just two days after the controversial visit of the King to the North African enclave.
The coastguard suspects that the boat was going to the Andalucian coast and then changed direction.
