There are two ski stations in the Asturias region of Spain
Valgrande-Pajares
One of two ski stations in the Principality of Asturias, the Valgrande-Pajares Winter Resort is situated in Pajares, in the South of Asturias, on the border with León province, Castilla y León. It is just a forty minutes drive from both León City and from the capital of Asturias, Oviedo.
With more than 50 years of history, Valgrande-Pajares (min. altitude 1,375 m – max. altitude 1,890 m) is a medium-sized resort with 23 kilometres of skiable area, and a system of 82 snow cannons providing 3 kms of that area with artificial snow. There are 36 runs altogether, with slopes for all levels of skill, and an additional 7 kms for cross-country skiing.
Recent investment has brought the number of ski lifts up to 13 (two 4-person chair lifts, three 2-person chair lifts, and 8 surface lifts.)
The resort also offers night-time skiing at weekends and Bank Holidays, usually from 7pm until 10pm.
The Valgrande-Pajares ski school is staffed with 30 professionally-qualified instructors, with classes in Alpine skiing, cross-country and snowboard for all levels, ranging from beginners up to competition standard.

Fuentes de Invierno
The Fuentes de Invierno Winter Resort is a much newer-station, and only opened for its first season on 31st March 2007.
Also much smaller than Valgrande, the resort has 14 ski runs with a total skiiable area of 8.39 km: two black runs, five red, five blue, and two green runs.
It is equipped with five ski lifts.
The resort is in Aller, in the San Isidro mountain pass – El Puerto de San Isidro – on the Principality’s south eastern border with León province, Castilla y León, and is very close to the San Isidro ski station in León.
Close to the capital cities of both provinces, Fuentes de Invierno is 86 kilometres from León, and 68 from Oviedo.
Funded with more than 15 million € of regional government money, the new ski station was built as part of the Asturias government’s programme to diversify the economy of this part of the Principality, known as the ‘Cuencas Mineras,’ and in particular, to generate more income from tourism.
