The Railway Infrastructure Adminsitrator says that the problems in the Abdalajís tunnel are minor
An AVE test train has reached 330 km/hour for the first time on the new section of line between Málaga and Antequera where the Railway Infrastructure Administrator ADIF, has said that the line is now 99% complete.

President of the ADIF, Antonio González, told the EFE news agency that the 18,000 kms of tests had been carried out on the line so far and that the opening date of December 23 remained in place. He said that all safety requirements were being met, and that special measures have been put into place to ensure no accidents in the workplace during the final stages.

Regarding the reports from the PP of the problems in the seven km. long Abdalajís tunnel, he said the ‘small problem’ which had arisen their was one of excess pressure, and that the structure of the tunnel had not been damaged. Only the ring of the construction to stop water entering had been affected.

He said 57 million € had been spent on making the tunnels impervious to water, and that two litres of water per second was currently entering the tunnel from the local Abdalajís water table, but that was considered normal for such a construction, and that the water was later collected for use by farmers in the Guadalhorce valley and ‘not a drop’ was lost.
