Three people died in an outbreak of Legionnaires Disease which was traced to the refrigeration tower at the complex

An Instruction Court in Torremolinos has asked for documentation on the Benalmádena ice rink complex from both the Town Hall and the Junta de Andalucía, according to information from Europa Press on Thursday.

Quoting a press release from the Asociación Defensor del Paciente – the Patients Rights Association - the news agency said the court has asked the Town Hall to provide documentation on the management concession and the contracting procedure for the centre, together with a report on the complex which is to come from the Junta de Andalucía’s provincial health department.

Eighteen people were taken ill in an outbreak of Legionnaire’s Disease which brokje out in the area around the complex earlier this year. Three of them died: two people from Britain and a Spaniard from Oviedo.

It was traced to the ice rink’s refrigeration tower.
