The side described the decision as a step into self-management

Barcelona players held a half hour meeting without the team’s manager Frank Rijkaard yesterday to demand explanations from Edmilson who had previously questioned the side’s professionalism.

Iniesta is quoted as saying that perhaps the most serious thing that was happening was that experiences from last year, when the side missed out at the end of the season, were being repeated.

A statement after the meeting said the players had opted for a system of ‘self-management’ to fight the crisis in the team, and that it had been positive.

It comes after Edmilson was reported as saying there were ‘black sheep’ in the dressing room at barça, and some of the club management has also been openly critical of the play of Ronaldinho.

Meanwhile it has been reported that shirt sales for the Brazilian player are currently down 40%.
