A Florida judge has called for confidentiality from both Odyssey Exploration and the Spanish Government
A judge in Florida in the United States, Mark A. Pizzo, has asked the Spanish Government and the Odyssey Exploration Company to agree a pact on confidentiality over the treasure which was found last May.
The Judge rejected however the confidentially guidelines which had been proposed by Odyssey, according to attorney James Goold, who represents the Spanish government in the litigation.
The Odyssey President, Greg Stemm, made a brief statement to the court on Monday, and said that his company was clearly willing to share information on the three exploration sites once a confidentiality agreement had been reached.
The estimated value of the treasure is 500 million $, but the Spanish Ministry for Culture considers that it could have been taken from a Spanish vessel. Odyssey has said that it is made up of gold and silver coins and was found outside Spanish waters, and therefore they had met all the legal requirements.
The next public hearing in the case has been set for January 10.
