Spain get a good group in the Eurocopa 2008 draw and Real Madrid stretch a lead at the top of the Primera Liga
Spain has been drawn in group D for the European Championships next year. Their first match will be against Russia on June 8th, with games against Sweden and Greece to follow.
Spain avoided the most difficult group, which is made up of Holland, Italy, Romania and France.

Real Madrid’s Raul may still be overlooked by Luis Aragones the Spanish Manager, but he’s certainly on form for his club side, now with eight goals in 14 league games. On Saturday he scored twice in the match which ended Real Madrid 3 – Racing 1.
The other scorers were an own goal from Sergio Sánchez after a shot from Sneijder and Munitis.
It means that Real Madrid has recovered lost ground at the top of the Primera Liga.

Villareal, who last week missed the chance to go top for the first time in their history, went down 2-0 in Valladolid and are now four points off the pace.

Barcelona too slipped up with a 1-1 in the derby game against Espanyol.

Athletico are entering into the top of the table following a win at home against Betis with goals from Forlán and Raúl García. They are now in the ‘Champions zone’

Sevilla continued poor form in the league, and suffered their eighth defeat of the season against Almería.

The Captain of Levante, Iñaki Descarga, suffered two impacts to his head durin the game against Getafe, and was rushed to hospital. A scan has shown that it is not thought he is seriously hurt, and he is expected to be allowed home today.
