Water levels in local rivers are down on last year
The
Júcar Water Board is considering more restrictions on watering crops in the region, given the continuing low level of reserves in the area. The level of the rivers in the region is lower than last year, and a meeting is planned for December 12th to consider the situation which is described as critical in the
Júcar, Cabriel and
Turia rivers.
For now it’s thought that measures to limit domestic consumption will not be announced. The water board said in a statement that the situation could change quickly if there is rain over the next few months.
President of the water board,
Juan José Moragues declined to give exact data on the levels of the Júcar, Cabriel and Turia rivers, but he said the situation was ‘worrying’.
