The draw for 'el Gordo' takes place on December 22
Four out of every ten immigrants are playing in the famous Spanish Christmas lottery this year.
A study by the Internet ticket seller Ventura24 has shown the Latin Americans to be those who gamble on the Gordo the most, while the African immigrants are less likely to do so. Those immigrants who do not buy a ticket often consider the ticket price to be too expensive.
34% of European residents in Spain buy tickets for the draw which takes place every year on December 22.
The study also reveals that eight out of ten immigrants say they would stay in Spain even if they won the first prize.
