79 passengers survived the journey to El HierroThe fourth immigrant boat to reach the Canary Islands in the past week arrived on
El Hierro on Sunday with 80 people on board, coming into port in
La Restinga at 8am under escort from the Coastguard. One of the passengers died on the journey.
It’s the fifth casualty in recent days, after two Cayucos reached
Tenerife last week with three bodies on board, and a fourth passenger later died in hospital when he suffered complications from hypothermia.
