The UGT and CGT unions have called off their planned strike action, but the CCOO union has strike calls remaining in force for three days before Christmas
RENFE Spanish railways is likely to see the shine taken off its new AVE high speed services which open to Valladolid and Málaga from Madrid in the week before Christmas as strike action has been called by the CCOO union.
A similar strike call was made at the same time last year, but this year the UGT and CGT unions have now called off their planned strike action for the 21,22 and 23 of December.
The CCOO action which remains in place is for the 21st and 28th of December when partial stoppages on the AVE services are called, together with other demonstrations to mark the opening of the new high speed lines on the 22nd and 23rd of December.
The union has accused RENFE and ADIF, the infrastructure company, management of a lack of interest after 11 months without any advances. The union is unhappy with the AVE pay rates and training procedures.
Meanwhile strike action in the Valencia region has been affecting travellers there, with more stoppages planned against privatisation of maintenance services.
