Judge Juan del Olmo said he was prepared to keep quiet no longer
National Court judge, Juan del Olmo, has voiced his anger at the El Mundo newspaper after it claimed that he was making the most of the instruction of the Madrid Train Bombings case which he had been assigned to obtain a four month period in Paris.
In a statement the judge said that ‘certain information’ affected his dignity.

‘I would never make the most of 11-M to obtain four months in Paris’, he said, noting that upto now he had supported ‘all sorts of professional and personal criticism’ because he understood that was part of the position, but he warned that he was not prepared to continue in silence.

Indeed it is the first time in three years that the judge has complained about his media treatment, mostly from El Mundo, which has continued in its attacks since his involvement in the case. He said that any money he had received as a direct or indirect result of the case he had donated to the Terrorism Victims Foundation, not even benefitting from the tax breaks of such donations.

Juan Del Olmo will be going to Paris to carry out research on Jihad terrorism.
