The paintings and drawings of Fernando Botero show the violence in present day Colombia
Murcia is hosting a new exhibition on the work of Colombian exile painter Fernando Botero. The 67 works, 25 oils and 42 drawings, show the violence, and pain in current day Colombia, a country where terrorism, drug trafficking and kidnappings are common.
It’s the first time that the paintings have been on show in Europe, and following showings in Alicante, Valencia and Palma de Mallorca, they can now be seen for the last time at the in Murcia Caja Mediterráneo CAM exhibition room at the Glorieta de España until January 27. It is open Monday to Saturday 11-2 and 6 to 9pm.
The director of the Caja Mediterráneo Social Works in Murcia, Juan José Mouliáa, said that art is a weapon against all types of violence.

Some years ago we saw Boteros exhibition with the Colombian violent
paintings in Denmark, therefore it is not true that Botero show them for the
first time in Europe (Spain).
