Shocking motorway death on Málaga toll road

A driver was hit by several vehicles travelling behind when he was thrown out of his car

There was a tragic accident on the Costa del Sol this weekend, where a 61 year old man named by EFE as R.H.P., died in an accident on the AP-7 toll motorway near Benalmádena on Saturday night. He was thrown out of his car when the vehicle came off the road at kilometre 219, and was then hit by a number of other vehicles travelling behind.

He was already dead when emergency services arrived at the scene. A spokesperson for the 112 emergency coordination centre told EFE it was unlikely that he would have been wearing a seatbelt.

Nationally, 54 people have lost their lives on the roads of Spain since the start of the Christmas holidays, 8pm on December 21, in 46 fatal accidents. The numbers from the D.G.T. traffic authority, are down from 63 deaths for the same period last year.
Last Saturday was the worst day with eight deaths.
