David Fernández started his protest on December 3
The Vélez-Málaga supply teacher who has been on hunger strike for the past 38 days has decided to abandon his protest for health reasons. David Fernández started his protest on December 3 in demand that the Junta de Andalucía let him rejoin the teacher selection for primary school teachers in the region.

He is one of the teachers affected by the policy of the regional education department to exclude music and physical education teachers from the selection process for primary school teachers.
However he claims that he has more than one academic year’s experience in primary education already.

The teacher said he was giving up his protest ‘before it was too late’, after having received a letter from the Andalucian Ombudsman, José Chamizo, in which he was advised to protest in another way.
