They are suspending the telephone service on five nights a week as a protest
There will be no telephone taxi service available in Elche for much of the week, with a decision from the local taxi association to suspend the service indefinitely between 11 pm and 7 am from Monday to Thursday. Información said it has been in place for 20 years, and means the only taxis available on those nights will be at the taxi ranks.
It comes with a proposal from the local government to increase tariffs by 3.26%, below the Consumer Price Index. The taxi drivers say their fuel has gone up by 14%, and their tariffs are 20% below other towns on the Costa Blanca.
