The juice is Tahitian Noni imported by a company in Mexico
The Junta de Andalucía’s health department has issued a warning about a tropical fruit juice understood to be sold over the Internet which could be associated with a fatal case of food poisoning in Ogíjares, Granada province. A relative of the victim was also taken ill.
The juice is sold in one litre glass bottles, and is labelled ‘Jugo de Noni TAHITIAN NONI.’ Other information included on the bottle is ‘Hecho en E.U.A. por Morinda, Inc. Importado por: Morinda Internacional México, S de R.L.R.F.C.: MIM990610 1N2’. The Junta said in a press release that the batch number and expiry date printed on the bottle were illegible.
While a toxicology analysis has yet to be completed to definitively confirm that the juice is connected to the death in Ogíjares, an alert has gone out to withdraw the product, and Spain’s Food Safety Agency has been informed. The health department, while saying it is not very likely to be a generalised problem, have advised anyone who may have similar bottles at home to avoid drinking it.

This juice has been a major problem for a long time. See <a
href="http://noni.worldwidewarning.net/index.php">http://noni.worldwidew
arning.net/index.php</a> for more details. They even have a story
with pictures showing the juice being quarantined and having quality
problems.
