The other Semi-finals between Barcelona and Villarreal, and Athletic and Racing are played tonight.
They lost on the night in the Calderon, 3-2, but Valencia go through to the Semi-finals of the King’s Cup in Spain thanks to the 0-1 from the first leg and the away goals rule. Some would say that Valencia had a lucky escape as Atlético took a 2-0 lead in the first twenty minutes.

In the other quarter final played last night, Getafe made their way through to the Semi-finals despite losing 2-1 on the night in Mallorca. Granero scored the all-important away goal for Getafe, some said almost by accident.

The other quarter finals between Barcelona and Villarreal, and Athletic and Racing take place tonight.

Meanwhile Spanish football fans are debating how the national trainer Luis Aragonés lost his cool when taking part in the Onda Cero radio programme ‘Al Primer Toque’ on Tuesday night. The manager became very angry when challenged by Alfonso Azuara on why he continued to leave Raúl González out of the Spanish side.
He finally said ‘I consider that Raúl should not be there and that’s that, and I’m not going to talk anymore about Raúl’.
