Francisco Javier de Urquía could be expelled from the profession if the body which governs the judiciary finds him guilty of serious faults
The Marbella judge who is under investigation by the Andalucía High Court of Justice, the TSJA, could be expelled from the profession, with a decision by the General Council for Judicial Power to open disciplinary proceedings. It relates to two possible serious faults, both of them connected to Juan Antonio Roca, the former municipal real estate assessor who is at the centre of the corruption in Marbella.

The penalty, if Francisco Javier de Urquía is found guilty by the body which oversees the judiciary, would be a minimum three months’ suspension, going up to expulsion from the profession.

The judge is already under a suspension from Instruction Court No. 2 in Marbella while the investigation by the TSJA is underway. He is alleged to have favoured suspects charged in the Marbella money laundering case he was instructing before his suspension, Hidalgo, and is also under investigation for allegedly accepting money from Juan Antonio Roca towards a property purchase in return for legal advice.

The amount is said to have been more than 78,000 €.
