Cibeles have set a minimum Body Mass Index of 18
Three British models will not be on the catwalk at the Pasarela Cibeles fashion show in Madrid on Monday, after failing the weight controls which set a minimum Body Mass Index of 18%. They were the only three out of 70 models who were told they were too thin to take part.
Doctor Susana Moroneo, who carried out the weight controls over three days, described the results as very positive, and said average BMI has gone up by one or two points since last year’s show. She said average height is 1.75 m, with a weight of 55 kilos.
Cibeles brought in the controls in September 2006 and 13 models, including these latest three, have been banned from taking part since then.
