100 million Euro is to be spent over the next four years in the Qualifa plan
The Minister for Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Joan Clos, was in Málaga yesterday and announced the Government is funding the Costa del Sol under the ‘Qualifa’ plan to the tune of 100 million €. The sum is 20 million more than expected, and will be used to revitalise the western Costa del Sol as a tourist destination.
The agreement was signed with the regional councillor Sergio Moreno, who said the money would go on a series of concrete projects over the next four years as part of a global investment in tourism over the time of 335 million.
Eight towns will benefit from the funding - Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Mijas, Marbella, Estepona, Casares and Manilva.

When is something going to be done about the appalling state of the
underpass to the beach on Avenida Carjaval in Fuengirola? It is a disgrace
and the stench is disgusting! The whole surrounding area is fast becoming a
slum, the grafitti on the walls of the train station in Torreblanca has
been there for the past six months, as it is the first thing one's sees
alighting from the platform from the airport, why is it not removed? It
welcomes tourists for prostitution in Fuengirola! The standards need to be
improved drastically if more tourists are to be welcomed to the area.
