El Refugio only discovered them in x-rays taken before she was to be sterilised
The animal welfare organisation El Refugio is looking for a new home for Birmania, a four year old mongrel dog who, after she was found, was admitted to the organisation’s clinic for sterilisation. Vets there later confirmed that she had lost the sight in her left eye to a gunshot pellet, but there was no evidence of any other physical injury on an initial visual examination.
The surprise came in x-rays taken prior to the operation, which revealed a bullet lodged on one side of her body, together with more than 70 gunshot pellets. El Refugio said they often come across dogs with pellets still inside their body, but have never found as many as on this occasion. They said she has been very lucky.
Birmania was found on a finca in Toledo province in January, along with her eight puppies.

I love Spain but some of the people seem to have a big problem with
animals. Why.

The Majority of the Country people of Spain AND some of the others treat
animals like CRAP.OK they may think that people from the UK and some other
parts of Europe are Animal Mad, (not the East Europeans where they anything
that moves and anything that doesn't be it pet cat, dog, swan, pigeon, rat
etc), but at least we don't tie a dog up on a 2 metre leash all week on its
own on a plot of land with a cup of water, some dry food spread about and
that's it? Or let our kids throw puppies in the air to land on the ground
like I've seen Spaniards do without slapping their brats or throwing
kittens around or abandoning puppies in rubbish bags and bins like here or
drowning or shooting them or paying to have them speyed rather than letting
them have countless puppies and kittens and risk diseases? They put horses
in fields in summer or winter with no water, little shade, cover or food. They
don't give a shit!
