They want to be paid in line with their colleagues in autonomous forces elsewhere in Spain
Some 250 National Police and Civil Guard took to the streets of Murcia on Saturday to demand salaries equivalent with their colleagues in forces elsewhere in Spain. Cataluña and the Basque Country were given as examples by Luis Cabello, general secretary of the UFP police union, where he said officers in the autonomous forces earn between 400 and 700 € more than their colleagues in the National Police and Civil Guard, Europa Press reports.
He also noted that officers in municipal forces receive a much higher rate for overtime than is paid to officers with the National Police.
Previous demonstrations have been held in Valencia, Valladolid, Granada and Málaga, and Cabello said the protests will continue in support of their demands.
