15.6 million journeys are forecast to be made on Spanish roads this holiday week
A total of 17 people lost their lives on Spanish roads over the weekend at the start of the Holy Week getaway, the number half that for the same time a year ago. The number is from 3pm on Friday to 8pm last night.
There were fatal accidents in the provinces of Barcelona, Madrid, Toledo, Almería, Málaga, Tarragona and Gerona.
The DGT traffic authority has confirmed that a woman died and three children were injured in an accident on the AP7 tool motorway in Mijas yesterday morning. It happened at 8,50am at the 210.5 km point direction Marbella in Calahonda, when a four wheel drive vehicle carrying six people left the road and fell down a drop.
15.6 million journeys are expected to be taken on Spanish roads over the Holy Week break with the roads the busiest from Wednesday until Thursday afternoon.
The return home is stepped, given that the regions of the Balearics, Cataluña, Valencia, Navarra, Basque Country and La Rioja, all have a fiesta on the Monday after Easter.
If you drive a diesel car, expect to pay 11 € more than last Easter to fill the tank.
