A quiet Spring for hayfever sufferers in Spain

23 percent of the population in Spain now suffer some form of allergy
Allergy experts in Sevilla say that this Spring will be a ‘normal and quiet’ one for hayfever sufferers. Doctor Julio Delgado, an allergy specialist in the Virgen Macarena Hospital in Sevilla, says that the low temperatures and lack of rain in the Autumn have moderated pollen levels across the country.

Some 50 experts in the field have been taking part in a congress in the city this week. They claim that many more people are suffering from allergies as our immune systems are being weakened from living in an excessively hygienic environment.

The Spanish Allergy and Clinical Immunology Society, SEAIC, says that 23% of the Spanish population now suffers from some type of allergy.
