13,000 people blocked the Calle Alcalá in Madrid yesterday
A protest has been held in Madrid against the illegal and uncontrolled nurseries operating in Spain. Unions say that 13,000 demonstrators attended the event which cut the Calle Alcalá in the city centre for a time.
‘Children need to be educated, not just guarded’, was one of the slogans heard by those present who said they are angry at increased privatisation of public education.
It comes after the death of a child in an unregulated illegal nursery in Barcelona earlier this week.
