An electrical fault shortly after leaving Barbate, bound for the Canaries, left the two man crew of the Saulo abandoned
It’s thought that a failure of the battery just after they left port, led to a fishing boat becoming lost since March.
The crew who were on a trip from Barbate in Cádiz to the Canaries say they had asked for help from some 30 boats which passed them by, but none of them came to their aid. The whole story could now be investigated by the Civil Guard.
The crew of the vessel, 61 year old José Quevedo and Cristo Herrera, were finally rescued on Friday.
The disappearance of their boat ‘Saulo’ was officially reported to the judicial police in Las Palmas by the son of the boat’s owner, José Quevedo, on March 13 after he lost contact by mobile phone.
