The 68 year old actress has been honoured for a lifetime on the stage and in film
68 year old Spanish actress Concha Velasco has won the Málaga Prize at the 11th edition of the city’s film festival over the weekend.

She told her audience that she still has not lost the dream of performing and that she is happy with her present. She recalled her early days as ‘a poor dancing girl who looked for fame going to all the auditions’.

She went on later to make six or seven films a year and said she was now pleased that the Velasco name was ‘becoming a saga’, with her brother a top photographic director, and her niece Manuela recently winning a Goya for best new actress. Both her sons Manuel and Paco are aspiring actors also.

Accepting her award in Málaga, Concha Velasco remembered Alfredo Landa winning the prize last year. ‘Imagine if they gave it to me’, she had thought at the time.
