The La Concepción reservior above Marbella is full, while Málaga city just 60kms away is suffering a severe water shortage
The planned transfer of water from Marbella to Málaga is being delayed and is now not expected to be in operation before the summer of next year, with the result that the needy areas of the Guadalhorce Valley and the city get no help while the Concepción reservoir in Marbella continues to pour water into the sea.
New pumping stations are needed at Santa Tecla and El Viso and a new connection is needed to the Atabal desalination plant in Málaga for the network to work correctly.
On Monday and Tuesday this week the amount of water wasted was enough to fill 800 Olympic size swimming pools. The sluice gates of the reservoir had to be opened ahead of forecast rains as La Concepción is almost full.

Only in Spain would anyone even THINK about dumping much-needed water, let
alone actually dump it. ...Beer, anyone, while the ship is still afloat?
