Jon Sutton, Wills & Probate Specialist, Becomes Equity Partner

De Cotta McKenna & Santafé (DMS), the respected law firm of English Lawyers & Spanish Abogados, today announced that Jon Sutton, English Solicitor and head of the Coín office, has been appointed equity Partner.

Jon Sutton has been with DMS since March 2005 and is the firm’s pre-eminent expert on Spanish Wills, Inheritance & Probate. His skills are particularly useful in dealing with Spanish Estates of UK Nationals and the conflicts of law of estates across the two jurisdictions of Spain and the UK.

The appointment brings the number of Partners at DMS to a total of 5, with specialisms that encompass International, Criminal & Commercial Law; Civil Litigation & Personal Injury; Property, Land & Conveyancing; Tax & Employment Advice as well as Wills, Probate & Family Law.

Sandra Wrightson, Partner & English Barrister with DMS, commented, “My colleagues and I are very happy to have Jon as part of the Partnership, helping take a strategic role in the direction and development of the firm. De Cotta McKenna & Santafé is dedicated to the needs of the ex-pat communities here in Spain and Jon’s skills and personal qualities are a genuine advantage for the firm”.

Jon Sutton is the established manager of the firm’s prestigious office in Coín's La Trocha Commercial Centre, but available for consultations across the DMS network of offices in Southern Spain and the Canary Islands.

Jon qualified in his home town, at the Manchester Metropolitan University. However, his love of football and in particular his international travels following Manchester United frequently brought him to Spain. Jon developed a passion for Spain, its culture climate & architecture and he was motivated to make the move from the UK. He studied Spanish at the Instituto Cervantes, enabling him to make the professional transfer to De Cotta McKenna y Santafé.

When not helping the English speaking community in Andalucia with their Wills and Inheritance planning, Jon still enjoys following football, films and home cinema and of course the southern Spanish lifestyle, including dining at the many restaurants that Andalucía has to offer and at the coast’s many beach Chiringuitos.

About De Cotta McKenna & Santafé
