King and Queen open the ninth legislature of the Spanish parliament

The King and Queen will meet with the Deputies and Senators before presiding a large military parade
King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia will preside today over the opening of the new legislature of parliament, the ninth. The Spanish Royals will meet in the Palacio de las Cortes with the deputies and senators who were elected at the poll last March 9, together with the representatives of the high institutions of State.
Traffic restrictions have been in place in local streets since the early hours.

There will be five new faces on the important blue seats reserved for Government ministers this time round.

After the session a large military parade takes place which is also broadcast live on national Spanish television. It sees all the armed forces represented in a parade before the Monarch and is set to start at noon.
