The man claimed to be the woman's gardeners when stopped by police
Two men have been arrested in Málaga accused of extorting a 97 year old Dutch resident who lives alone in an urbanisation in the city.
The arrested men, both locals and aged 37 and 22, told police that they worked for the women as gardeners, but they had been threatening her for some time, and were given 50 Euros a pop by the lady who was simply scared to do otherwise.
The arrests came almost by chance a few days ago in the El Atabal area of Málaga when a police patrol saw a vehicle acting suspiciously. Diario Sur says the local police stopped the car, found to contain the two man and an underage girl, and when asked what they were doing were told that they were gardeners who worked in a house nearby. One of the policeman noticed a wallet containing a 50 € note, with a shield saying ‘security guard’, and then asked the men to accompany them to the house.
It was then that the woman could tell her story, that the men visited her and intimidated her frequently, and that she had given them the money to make them go away.
