Baroness Thyssen-Bournemisza was in Málaga on Sunday to visit the site of the museum with the Mayor of the city, Francisco de la Torre.
When it opens in the summer or autumn of 2010 the new Thyssen Museum in Málaga will house some 180 paintings. These will make up the permanent collection of the gallery and be mostly Andalucian in origin.

The details were given by the Baroness Carmen Thyssen-Bournemisza, who was in Málaga on Sunday and who visited the site of the museum with the city Mayor, Francisco de la Torre.

She said that she was particularly excited in showing a work by Ignacio de Zuloaga, ‘Corrida de toros en Eibar’ which she described as being ‘beautiful, important and incredible’. She said that she was pleased that her project was also saving the 16th century Villalón Palace in the city, one of three buildings which will be used as the museum.

The budget for the reform work currently being carried out is 16.5 million €.
