The lynx Azahar is reported to be on heat again. The Iberian Lynx,
Azahar, expected to give birth at Jerez Zoo will finally not do so, as keepers have discovered she is just undergoing a phantom pregnancy. Hopes remain high though as she is reported to have mated with the macho another time.
Iñigo Sánchez from Jerez de la Frontera Zoo, said Azahar was expected to give birth before last weekend, but now she is on heat again.
It has been an exciting time for conservationists who are trying to save this endangered species, with as many as 16 kittens being born in captivity over recent weeks, 13 of which have survived and remain in good health.
