It happened in 1997 and the hotel now has to reimburse the married couple concerned with 57,000 Euro.
A hotel in Benalmádena will have to compensate clients who lost money, jewellery and casino chips from the hotel safe in their room. The Supreme Court has thrown out an appeal from the hotel company against a sentence from the National Court which had condemned the company to pay compensation to the guests.

The case dates back to February 1997 when a married couple suffered the theft and claimed for the 36,000 € lost. The Supreme court says that 57,000 € must be paid in reparations and damages, and that a hotel warning of a maximum risk for 3,005 Euros was not legal and did not exempt them from greater responsibility.
