May 3 sees the celebration of the 'Dia de la Cruz' in many parts of Andalucía.
After the celebration of the day of the cross on May 3 in many towns and villages of Andalucía, a row has broken out in Granada following the decision of the police to fine 78 bars in the city for letting their clients drink in the streets during the festival.
Traditionally food and drink are offered to passers by at each cross but municipal regulations passed for the day in Granada ruled that there would be no bars in the streets.
The police also report that three people have been arrested for insulting behaviour and resisting authority during the weekend’s celebrations.
