Pilots to hold strike action in Air Europa in Junelarger |
smallerBy h.b. - May 8, 2008 - 5:56 PMStikes will be held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from June.
Air Europa pilots have announced that they are to maintain plans for strike action in June, with indefinite stoppages planned for every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from June. The strike call comes despite the cancellation of the owners, Grupo Globalia, headed by Juan José Hidalgo, to cancel a project for a second airline, Universal Airlines, which Air Europa crews had considered as a threat to them.
Hidalgo has said the pilots are making unreasonable demands at a difficult time given higher fuel prices and a fall in demand. The pilots are calling on the company to respect a previous wage deal, and an undertaking not to take production of the Globalia Group into other areas.
The company sees that as the pilots limiting the growth of the company.
