A house collapse in Altea closed the N-332 road for a time.
The heavy rain to fall on the Costa Blanca yesterday led to the collapse of a house in Altea and the blocking of the N-332 road for a time. Fortunately there was nobody at home in the house in Calle La Mar when the collapse happened at 1.30pm.
In a separate incident some 20 residents had to leave their homes in Alcoy when a ceiling collapsed. They were housed in a local hotel as a precaution.
The rain was also thought to have played a part in a fatal traffic accident in Benissa where a driver died.
An average of 40 litres per square metre of rain fell across Alicante province yesterday.
