The device was placed in a van outside the Club Marítimo in Getxo. There were no injuries but there was widespread material damage.
ETA has carried out another van-bomb attack in Spain. It came in Getxo just hours after an emotional ceremony was held in the town of San Sebastian in remembrance of the victims of terrorism.
It happened at ten to one this morning, after a phone warning was given in the name of ETA 50 minutes before. This allowed police to evacuate the area and there were no injuries.
The explosion happened outside the El Albra Maritime Club in a building which holds regular meetings of Basque businessmen.
Several nearby buildings suffered a large amount of damage.
It’s the third attack from the Basque terrorists in a week, after the fatal attack outside the Civil Guard barracks in Legutiano on May 14 which saw the death of Juan Manuel Piñuel Villalón, and two small devices which went off on May 12 in a construction company involved in the new AVE high speed railway.
