The ex Municipal Real Estate Assessor in Marbella had been granted and paid one million Euro bail in the Malaya case.
More changes in the Malaya corruption case in Marbella and affecting the man at the centre of it, Juan Antonio Roca, the ex municipal real estate assessor in the town.
Roca, who is currently in jail after his bail amount was increased in the Saqueo 1 case, is now set to stay there also in the Malaya case after the Provincial Court in Málaga ruled that his one million € bail be cancelled and he be held on remand in the Malaya case for the maximum two additional years.
The Málaga Court has therefore overturned the decision made last March 27 by the instruction judge in the Malaya case, Oscar Pérez, who granted the one million € bail, despite admitted ‘an increased risk of flight’.
The Málaga Provincial Court has said now though that the bail is cancelled, and does so following an appeal placed to it by the Anti-corruption prosecutor, together with Marbella Town Hall and the Junta de Andalucía. The court considered that the risk of flight was very high, given that Roca is believed to have substantial funds abroad, and also because there are other criminal proceedings open against him.
