The relations between the trainer and the Spanish Basketball Federation have broken down.
The Spanish Basketball Federation called the national side’s manager, Pepu Hernández, to a meeting last Tuesday when he was to have be sacked, but he did not go.
Now, Pepu met the press supported by friends and family in a Madrid hotel yesterday, and said he felt persecuted and mistreated by the federation but would be staying in his post to take Spain to the Olympic Games. He denied that he had reached any deal to coach any particular club side.
Pepu said he was concentrated on the games and it was his wish and hope that he would end his time with greater dreams, commitment and dedication. He said he had never thought of resigning. We now await the Federation's response.
